Procedure if a Child is Lost or Goes Missing
To ensure that all children in my care are safe, I keep the front and back door secured at all times.
I will safely supervise children when we go on outings or trips. I will teach the children about safety when we are out and about.
If in the unlikely event that a child goes missing I would start by carrying out a thorough search of the area, and then if the child wasn`t found quickly, I would contact my emergency back–up childminder to come and help supervise any other children in my care, to allow me to concentrate on the search. If I still couldn`t find the child I would get in contact with the police, the parents and Ofsted.
After the incident is resolved I will record it and let Ofsted know. I will also review my risk assessments to ensure this can be avoided in the future.
